# phonevalid > A free phone number validator. Check whether a number is valid, format it for any system > (E.164, international, national, RFC 3966) and identify its country and line type. > Parsing runs entirely in the browser: numbers are never sent to a server. ## What it does - Validates a number against the numbering plan of 245 countries and territories: the length and the range a regulator has assigned to a carrier or service. - Formats a valid number as E.164 (`+16502530000`), international, national and RFC 3966 (`tel:`). - Identifies the country, calling code, region and line type (mobile, landline, VoIP, toll-free and more), plus local time where the number was assigned. - Checks lists in bulk, one number per line, and exports the results as CSV. ## Limits - "Valid" means the number is well-formed and in an assigned range. It does not mean the line is active, nor who owns it. That needs a live carrier (HLR) lookup, which this site does not do. - Some countries, including the US and Canada, mix mobile and fixed numbers in the same ranges, so the line type there is reported as "Landline or mobile". ## Pages - / — the validator, the bulk checker, how it works and the FAQ - /signup — create a free account (line type, every format, unlimited bulk rows, CSV export) - /login — log in ## Accounts Sign-in is with Google.
